Our Story

The Meaning of Volta
In poetry, a volta is the turning point, the moment when perspective shifts and meaning deepens. That idea became the inspiration for our winery.
Every bottle we produce is intended to create that same experience: a pause, a conversation, a celebration, or a quiet moment that feels just a little more meaningful.
At Volta, wine becomes more than something you drink. It becomes something you remember.
The Missing Vine
As a young man visiting his family's hometown of Flaibano in northern Italy, founder Gianni Del Degan walked the family vineyard rows with his grandfather. Seeing gaps where vines had died, he asked why they weren't replanted. "I'm an old man," his grandfather said. "I'm not sure it's worth the effort."
He lived another twenty-two years. Together they would joke about all the bottles they could have shared, had those vines been replanted. The moment became an anchor, a reminder that the best time to plant a dream is always now.
Years later, standing at the crossroads of prudence and possibility, the encouragement of his loved ones inspired him to plant the vines that would become Volta Estate Winery.
